You can dramatically extend the life of you laptop battery

Like everything else, batteries will run out or will breakdown. The same can be said with the most advanced 6 cell or 12 cell lithium ion batteries commonly found in laptops and notebooks. Most notebook manufacturers will boast that their lithium ion batteries have extended life spans which could work for years, decades even. Unfortunately, this is not true especially if you do not know how to properly care and maintain it. In reality, any battery, lithium ion or not, will have a finite amount of cycles for charging. Once these cycles run out, you can say goodbye to it and you will have to spring for a new one. Now, even if this reality is an eventuality, you can still do your part to lengthen the service of your existing battery by implementing some of these maintenance tips.
  •  Don't plug your laptop in when it is fully charged. Many people do not know this but it actually hurts your battery when you plug in your laptop to a power source when the battery is fully charged. According to the experts, if your battery is fully charged and still keeps accommodating power and heat, its life will definitely diminish. To avoid this, only plug in your laptop to charge your battery. If the battery is fully charged but you still want continuous power coursing through to your device, then consider removing the battery and using the power source instead.  I started removing the battery when I plug my computer into AC for continuous use on my desk.  I used to go through a batter every 6 months,  now they last much longer.
